Filing a waiver divorce in Oklahoma County follows a defined sequence. Knowing what’s required at each stage helps you avoid delays and reduces the chances that something needs to be refiled.

Filing Documents & the Waiver of Service

The petitioner files the divorce petition with the Oklahoma County District Court. The respondent then signs an Entry of Appearance and Waiver of Service, which must be notarized and filed no sooner than one full day after the petition is filed. This waiver eliminates the need for a process server or sheriff’s service.

Core filing documents include the Domestic Relations Cover Sheet, the Petition for Dissolution of Marriage, the Entry of Appearance and Waiver of Service, and the proposed Final Dissolution of Marriage Decree. When minor children are involved, a marital settlement agreement and parenting plan must also be filed.

After the applicable waiting period, the court schedules a brief hearing.
